Following a tense summer of awaiting doomsday, the Blood War has begun. A trick from the Idolmaker disables prayer runes and leaves demon hunters scrambling to defend themselves and their homes. As the Idolmaker’s forces pick off chapters of the Last Family one by one, Jensen Everlee joins the search for understanding — and for a way to fight back.

Without a way to kill demons, the Last resorts to dangerous tactics in order to keep from being annihilated. It looks like demon hunting in its current form might come to an end, with the rest of the world along with it, but Jensen and his closest allies aren’t convinced that compromising on their values or going extinct are the only options.
